Jolly Ol' England

Lucky Blokes in London.
That's where my In-laws are now.  They landed on Monday at Midnight.  I'm not certain if that was Midnight our time or their time, but I am certain that they have arrived.  They emailed us that happy detail on Tuesday.  Whew!  It's a relief to have them landed safely.
We are so happy for them to have this adventure.  They are going to work in the London Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as missionaries.  They will live abroad for 18 months.  Doesn't that have a lovely ring to it?  Living abroad.  Now, if I can work in some distinctly English phrases...

We hear their flat is tiny.  The kitchen is more of a kitchenette but at least it is a private kitchen, right?  They were wondering.
They've decided not to drive.  It's costly to get a license over there.  They've decided not to get a tellie.  They didn't want to pay for that license either.  They are going to get internet.  We will be able to Skype.  (This is pretty exciting for us, on this side of the pond.  We've never Skyped before.)   They'll live in a little complex with other temple workers.  The temple is within walking distance of a little village (!)  where they can get a few supplies.  They'll be able to go to London by taking a cab to a bit bigger village that has a train station.  They can take the train to London.  Once in London they can travel all over using the tube.  Perhaps they'll visit the Queen.
BYU Dad and I have talked a bit about going over for a visit next year.  We shall see about this.  A lot depends on airfare...
But on the other hand.... ENGLAND!  I've read, dreamed, read, watched movies and read about England.  ENGLAND!
Just the thought of visiting makes my toes tingly.  Imagine taking a carriage ride out into the English countryside.  BYU Dad keeps reminding me that the English countryside that I'm imagining is from REGENCY England.  And it may be a bit different then MODERN England.  For example, I read that "clubbing" is a popular activity in London.  I really can't reconsile "clubbing" with my vision of the Motherland. We shall see about that, I suppose.
So, all you Lucky Blokes in London, enjoy having my In-Laws around for a year and a half.  We are sacrificing plenty to share them with you.  But we don't begrudge the fact.  We are happy to share... but be sure you send them back safe and sound.

We love you Grandma and Grandpa Fruitsnack!
We are proud of you!
And we miss you already.

And May God Bless Us, Everyone.
